Biography

Farewell Fairground are a three-piece acoustic band that offer professional musicianship coupled with a passion to create an easy listening sound with hard hitting harmonies. The band formed in 2010 when Daniel Leigh, Matthew Beale and Christopher Smith met at Wilberforce College in Hull and bonded over their shared enthusiasm for enjoying and creating music. Whilst at college, the band performed at various award ceremonies, talent shows and open evenings, with their performances becoming very popular amongst both staff and students.

were offered their first official gig outside of college at a local bar on Newland Avenue. They entered several local talent competitions, winning the Hull Busk Idol 2011 and coming second in the Hull Daily Mail's Talent Trail 2012. Since then they have refined their skills and developed their own signature sound, working hard to create great original music and a strong professional reputation. They are now very well known within the local Hull music scene and are frequently asked to perform at various venues, festivals and events in their home town.

 

The band's original work has been well received with several of their tracks been played over various radio stations, including one that broadcasts across America and Australia. Farewell Fairground have gone from strength to strength and have had the opportunity to be involved in some fantastic events, such as Plymouth University’s summer ball, Bostel Bash in Germany for the returning troops from Afghanistan, fresher’s week events and various music festivals across the United Kingdom including Festival8, Freedom Festival and Tribfest. They also had the honour of switching on their hometown’s Christmas Lights in 2011, where they performed in front of 20,000 people before turning on the lights, marking the city’s countdown to Christmas.

 

Farewell Fairground are a band that is really making a name for themselves, supporting and co-ordinating with many signed artists such as Alexandra Burke, Marcus Collins, Lucy Spraggan, Ella Eyre. Professor Green and, most recently, Shift K3Y. They have performed all over the United Kingdom and parts of Europe, with an intention of touring America in the near future. With 2016 just beginning, the band is looking forward to what the new year holds. With their sights set on recording new material, touring the UK and continuing to enhance their growing brand and fan base, Farewell Fairground is a band on the rise.
